Pomrad, the alter ego of singer and keyboard virtuoso Adriaan Van de Velde, combines 80s fusion funk, raw electrodance, and 90s rave grooves with catchy melodies and dreamy butter & bass-driven pop music. On his new music he really emerges as a pop songwriter and reinvents his characteristic sound by singing all the lead vocals. Besides his typical drippy sweaty funk and scorching hot 80s ballads, he also draws inspiration from some more uptempo 90s rave genres like jungle, garage and juke.

We already had a taste of some of his catchyness in his vaporfunk banger “Pomslap”, this album goes catchy all the way without losing the weirdness, dreamy nostalgia and jazz fusion meanderings that are so unique for his sound.

Pomslap, from the EP This Day was featured heavily on the Studio Brussels daytime playlist and returned in mixes from Pomo, Soulection, Jarreau Vandal, Onra and many more. Later on, Pomrad did a collab with Onra and they created a 90s boombap & R&B inspired album Swing Convention under the name of OXP.

During the Covid pandemic, Pomslap was featured in a random video by Snoop Dogg himself: he filmed his "quarantine room", while Pomslap was being played on his sound system.

Pomrad is known for his exciting energetic performances, both musically impressive and entertaining.

He uses his craftsmanship as a trained jazz musician to play a laboratory of synths and samplers, combining this with weird dance moves and a strong amount of irony and humour. Apart from touring in Europe, his pleasantly unhinged, humour filled and super danceable live act already brought him to Japan, Korea and Thailand.

Before he dived into the writing of his new album, Pomrad played some solo shows to test new music, e.g. supporting Marc Rebillet’s concert in a sold-out club in Brussels (La Madeleine) where Marc himself was blown away by Pomrads performance.

His more energetic electro tracks are regularly featured in the Korean popping and locking scene on instagram.
